Our Story

The story of our family ranch began in 1971 when George and Kathie Murphy and their 2 young daughters moved to North Pole, Alaska. They purchased an abandoned dairy farm located on 200 acres and started North Pole Ranch.  They had a large heated horse facility and a dog/cat boarding kennel where they also raised and showed several breeds of dogs and horses. 

Their daughters, Kari and Buffy, were raised with a love of animals and the great outdoors. The girls spent weekends, summers, and holidays working in the kennels and the stables.  In 1990, they moved to Ashland, Oregon, and Kathie and Kari worked together to open the Kennels for dog and cat boarding that next year. In 2021, Kari and her husband Matt (Dusenbury) purchased the family ranch and are continuing its legacy under a new name: Valley View Ranch and Kennels, LLC.
